R & R in the southern islands

Postby AK Troutbum » Tue Nov 17, 2020 6:05 pm

Just got back from another very enjoyable hunt with my son on Kodiak. We flew down to the southern part of the island on Oct. 30, for a 11 day deer/goat hunt. My son was pretty determined to do it all with his bow, but ended up using the rifle as well. In the end, we came home with 2 red foxes (bow), 4 deer (bow and 121 year old Winchester 1894), and a nice billy (.308). We experienced a little bit of everything that Kodiak has to offer, weatherwise, in the month of November. Clear and cold high pressure system to start the trip, then a little snow, then some rain and wind, and then back to a high-pressure system on the day we left.

Great stuff. We have been having a really beautiful fall with cool, clear weather.

I like to think I can see a scenic backdrop in an image taken anywhere in the Kodiak archipelago and identify where it was taken. I'm 99% sure I know the name of the lake you camped by based on the goat pics. 8-)

I have no doubt you do. Would you like to post the initials or first couple letters of the lake?[GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

I've been past that spot on trips but never really spent time exactly there. Kodiak is full of nooks and crannies and really exploring an area can be a rewarding way to spend some days.
